As you start to walk on the way, the way appears — Rumi
In Life Transitions: How to Make Space for Uncertainty and Allow Your Creativity to Emerge we discussed about how important it is to create a safe space in our lives while going through transitions. We observed that they are very much like winter, when everything is asleep and nothing seems to be happening. How can we move into the new emerging spring and allow our lives to bloom again? Read on to know more about it 🙂
Do you always need a plan that tells you exactly how things should unfold in front of you? This is how we unconsciously try to control reality to avoid uncertainty and the anxiety it brings along. If you pause and reflect about it for a moment, you will soon realize that always having a plan can be very limiting. In fact, while we are so focused on making something happen, we end up ignoring many possibilities that appear all around us, that might even be better than what we think we want. Moreover, all the expectations we have on how things should be are only setting us up for disappointment.
Enough with your doubts! Enough with your sorrows! Let them all go, and I will show you the way. — Rumi
As we discussed in Surrender and Let Go, while talking about grieving our losses, letting go of our plans is fundamental while holding space for a new emerging reality. What we really need to do is surrendering to the present moment, releasing our internal resistance. When we allow life to happen we are aligning ourselves in the direction of its natural flowing.
The goal of life is to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe, to match your nature with Nature. — Joseph Campbell
If we are brave enough to completely open up to life, we need some tools to understand how to navigate it. In other words, if we let go of our plans, how do we understand what is the best direction to go?
A key concept is experimenting 🙂 Start with small steps and ask yourself often How do I feel about it? Then follow your energy. If it is high and you feel good, it means you are on the right path 🙂 Just keep going! What if you feel drained, instead? Then maybe it is better for you to try taking a small step also in another direction and ask yourself Do I feel better?
Follow your bliss.
If you do follow your bliss,
you put yourself on a kind of track
that has been there all the while waiting for you,
and the life you ought to be living
is the one that you are living.
When you can see that,
you begin to meet people
who are in the field of your bliss,
and they open the doors to you.
I say, follow your bliss and don’t be afraid,
and doors will open
where you didn’t know they were going to be.
If you follow your bliss,
doors will open for you that wouldn’t have opened for anyone else. – Joseph Campbell
As we proceed step by step, along the way we might have some insights, that give us glimpses of where we are headed. We often experience them as longings or intuition. These are such important survival tools that we should always trust 🙂 Do you want to learn more about them? Have a look at Embrace the Longing and 7 Ways to Strengthen Your Innate Intuition 🙂
